#MedSafetyWeek

The pharmacovigilance service of the Pharmacy and Medicines Division (DPM) participates annually in the global #MedSafetyWeek campaign. This campaign, initiated by the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC), the World Health Organisation's (WHO) reference centre for pharmacovigilance, aims to bring together authorities from around the world to share awareness-raising materials on social media, using the hashtag #MedSafetyWeek.

This campaign is part of the pharmacovigilance department's efforts to raise awareness about the proper use of medicines, with the aim of amplifying messages and increasing the ‘pharmacovigilance culture’ in Luxembourg. It is organised every year in November and focuses on different themes.

In Luxembourg, the key messages are conveyed by our healthcare professionals, who act as Ambassadors for Medicines Safety.

Communication tools are created directly by the UMC and made available to the countries participating in the campaign. These tools are then made available to healthcare professionals and patients at national level by the pharmacovigilance service:

  • paper displays in pharmacies or medical practices,
  • digital displays and animations,
  • identifying badges,
  • business cards and quick-reference sheets.

This helps to facilitate exchanges and raise awareness among healthcare professionals and patients about the theme of the year.

The various campaigns over the years, as well as their communication tools, are available below:
