Social security affiliation

Anyone working in Luxembourg – whether as an employee, self-employed person or civil servant – must be registered with the Joint Social Security Centre (CCSS). This registration constitutes official entry into the Luxembourg social security system.

It provides comprehensive social protection, covering in particular:

  • health care (medical consultations, hospitalisation, medicines, etc.);
  • maternity and parenthood (leave, allowances, benefits);
  • accidents at work and occupational diseases;
  • old-age pension;
  • long-term care insurance (assistance in the event of loss of autonomy).

Registration is therefore essential to guarantee financial and social security throughout your working life, in retirement and in the event of hardship.
