Rabies is a disease caused by a virus that is transmitted from animals to humans. The rabies virus attacks the nervous system. Rabies is fatal if not treated in time. The vaccine is recommended for:

• people who care for or work with animals in infested areas,
• people who travel to rural areas in Africa or Asia for extended periods of time.

Vaccination schedule

• Vaccination: 4 injections (days 0, 7, 21 or 28)
• Booster: 1 year later (5 years' protection)
