New mums, are you breastfeeding at work?

Breastfeeding Week takes place in Luxembourg from 2 to 8 October, and this year it focuses on breastfeeding at work. The Ministry of Health, in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), is seeking to highlight that breastfeeding at work is a right, and that it is in the interests of employers to ensure a balanced stance where breastfeeding and work are concerned.

To this end, the Ministry of Health is launching an awareness campaign, informing employers and employees of the advantages of breastfeeding and how this practice should be implemented in the workplace

Establishing areas for use when breastfeeding at work has a number of benefits:

  • breastfeeding women feel integrated and valued in the workplace, which has an impact on their engagement and satisfaction, as well as that of other employees;
  • employers' support facilitates mothers returning to work, which helps to reintroduce employees and increase company productivity;
  • the appeal of a company as an employer is enhanced.
