Don't let tobacco take your breath away!

World No Tobacco Day provides an opportunity for the Ministry of Health to join forces with the World Health Organization (WHO) to make people aware of the harmful and fatal effects of active and passive smoking.

Tobacco is the number one cause of early and preventable death worldwide. The tobacco epidemic kills around 8 million people every year around the globe. More than 1.2 million of them are non-smokers who have been exposed to tobacco smoke through no fault of their own. In Luxembourg, there are approximately 1,000 deaths per year linked to tobacco, 80 of which are caused by passive smoking.

The aim of the information and awareness campaign 'Don't let tobacco take your breath away! / Loosst den Tubak Iech net den Otem huelen' is to remind people that stopping smoking is vital for health, well-being and quality of life.
