Conventions on early notification and assistance

The purpose of the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident and the Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency is to alert and inform the international community of any major event at a nuclear power plant, the consequences of which could affect one or more neighbouring states, and to provide assistance to requesting states.

The Radiation Protection Division attends biannual meetings of the contracting parties, at which past activity is reviewed and future actions under these Conventions are planned.
