Residential care
Long-term care facility
If a dependent person lives in a care home for the elderly, long-term care insurance directly covers the costs of assistance and care, as well as the costs of various activities provided.
The costs related to the price of the pension (which includes room rental, food and supervision costs) remain the responsibility of the resident, whether they are recognised as dependent or not.

Intermittent residential care home
These residential care homes are only for people with disabilities.
When a person with a disability lives in a facility, all assistance and care is provided by the facility and the costs are covered directly by long-term care insurance.
When they return home, it is possible to divide the assistance and care between the carer (payment of cash benefits) and a network of assistance and care providers (direct payment of benefits in kind).
