Home care

One of the guiding principles of long-term care insurance is to prioritise home care over residential care in nursing homes.

This priority stems from the desire to enable everyone to live as long as possible in good conditions in their own home. To achieve this objective, long-term care insurance covers the following benefits:

  • benefits in kind;
  • cash benefits;
  • flat-rate allowance for incontinence supplies;
  • technical aids;
  • home adaptations;
  • car adaptations
  • pension insurance contributions for carers.

Care and assistance can be provided by care and assistance networks and/or by a carer:

  • the costs of care and assistance networks are covered directly by long-term care insurance. Payment is retroactive from the date of application.

If a carer provides assistance and care, a cash benefit may be allocated to the dependent person. Payment is due from the date of notification of the decision.
