Assessment of dependency

The National Health Fund (CNS) forwards the complete application to the Long-Term Care Insurance Assessment and Control Administration (AEC).

The AEC is responsible for assessing the level of dependency and also determines the benefits to which the dependent person is entitled.

The assessment is carried out by a healthcare professional or a doctor from the AEC. In principle, this person is the case manager and is responsible for following up on the case. The applicant receives their contact details at the time of the assessment.

The assessment can be carried out at home, in a care and support facility or at the AEC's premises.

The AEC professional assesses the applicant's ability to perform essential daily tasks and determines their care and support needs. They also assess any needs for technical aids, home adaptations or car adaptations.
