Who can request an abortion?

In Luxembourg, any pregnant women can request an abortion. It is her right, irrespective of whether she is a legal adult or a minor.

If the pregnant woman is an unemancipated minor, then she will require the consent either of:

  • the holder, or holders, of parental responsibility for her, or
  • her legal representative.

However, the unemancipated minor woman may choose to keep the procedure a secret, provided she is accompanied throughout by a person of trust who is of legal age.
