What documents and information must a woman have been given before having an abortion?

Before having an abortion, the pregnant woman must have been provided with the following documents and information. This information must be provided by the specialist:

• a certificate of pregnancy: this document specifies the exact stage of the pregnancy, and must be given to the doctor carrying out the abortion;
• medical information about the different types of abortion available and the medical risks and potential side effects of each;
• a list of institutions licensed to perform abortions, if the physician providing the certificate is not able to perform it;
• documentation concerning:
  • the rights of the pregnant woman,
  • support for children and families,
  • the different choices available and their consequences.
