Antenatal classes and preparation
Informational classes and preparation for birth
These individual or group classes offer information about:
- pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding,
- relaxation and breathing exercises,
- life with your baby and parenthood, etc.
In addition, gym, aqua-gym and prenatal swimming classes are organised by hospitals, associations, swimming pools and private companies.
Visiting the maternity hospital
Future parents are often offered the opportunity to visit the maternity ward of the hospital where their baby is to be born, and the delivery suite, free of charge.
Hospital bags
In order to have everything ready and avoid a last-minute rush, you should pack your hospital bag 4-6 weeks prior to your expected delivery date.
A mother and child will typically be in hospital for 3-4 days following a vaginal birth, and 5-7 days following a C-section. However, outpatient delivery is also an option. In this case, you come in, give birth and leave again on the same day.
