A respiratory infection is anything but trendy
Starting on 12 October 2026, the Health Directorateis launching the third edition of its public awareness campaign on respiratory infections.
The campaign aims to raise public awareness of the importance of adopting the right preventive measures to limit the spread of viruses. While barrier measures remain important, vaccination continues to be the most effective way to prevent severe illness and to protect oneself, loved ones and others from respiratory infections.
This year, the campaign will focus on influenza vaccination for children and healthcare workers, which is essential to protect vulnerable patients, as well as RSV vaccination for older adults who are at the highest risk of complications.
Protecting others starts with protecting yourself.
As part of this campaign, the Ministry of Health and Social Security has planned several communication initiatives aimed at the general public:
- advertising in shopping centres,
- radio spots,
- digital advertising in cinemas,
- social media communication and much more.
Beyond vaccination, everyone can help limit the spread of respiratory infections by adopting simple preventive measures:
- washing hands regularly,
- ventilating indoor spaces,
- limiting close contact with others,
- wearing a mask when ill or when in contact with vulnerable people.
