No alcohol under 16… we stick to it!
Law of December 22, 2006
Among a growing number of young people, a particularly dangerous pattern of alcohol consumption is being observed, aimed solely at getting drunk as quickly as possible, even at the risk of intoxication or alcohol coma.
The earlier the age of first alcohol consumption, the more frequent the intoxication and the higher the risk of developing alcohol dependence.
In view of this public health priority, a new law has come into effect. Since December 29, 2006, the sale or provision of alcoholic beverages to minors under 16 years of age has been prohibited.
Information Tools
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Center for the Prevention of Drug Abuse, has developed an information and awareness campaign that appeals to the responsibility of all adults towards children and adolescents.
As part of this campaign, several information tools have been produced:
- 1 radio spot
- 1 poster
- 1 sticker
- 1 public brochure
More targeted information has also been developed, such as:
- 1 manual for organizing parties
- Recommendations for staff at points of sale and beverage outlets
