Law on tobacco control
Law of August 11, 2006
Since September 5, 2006, the new law on tobacco control has been in effect.
The legislative amendments adopted on July 13, 2006, by the Chamber of Deputies cover three areas:
Ban on smoking in public places;
Prohibition of the sale of tobacco products to minors under 16;
Ban on all advertising and sponsorship in favor of tobacco and its products.
The law on tobacco control aims to protect the population from the harmful effects of passive smoking and to encourage smoking cessation.
