Vaccine storage
In order to ensure the best possible patient care, it is essential to follow good vaccine storage practices. In general, vaccines should be placed in the refrigerator immediately upon receipt and stored away from light at a temperature between +2°C and +8°C.
Ideally, vaccines should be placed inside the refrigerator and not in the door. Please avoid leaving the refrigerator door open for too long. It is also recommended that power outlets be secured to prevent accidental power interruptions.
The refrigerators used must be compatible with the storage of the pharmaceutical products distributed. In this regard, the internal temperature of the refrigerator must be monitored using a thermometer. It is recommended that these temperatures be recorded daily. Regular maintenance, including defrosting the refrigerator, is also recommended in order to maintain optimal conditions for vaccine storage.
Expired, opened or damaged vaccines that are unusable cannot be returned to the Health Department. They must therefore be disposed of safely and in accordance with good practice.
