Mpox
The CSMI recommends adopting a strategy aimed at reducing the spread of mpox in humans, by implementing the following measures:
> Early detection of potential cases, along with contact tracing;
> Early detection of cases by assessments carried out by specialists, and confirmation of the diagnosis by PCR test > Isolation of infected patients; and
> Implementation of infection prevention and control measures (standard, contact and droplet precautions) across the healthcare sector.
Mpox is a notifiable disease in Luxembourg, and must be reported by physicians and medical laboratories. The Health Directorate is conducting a health investigation into mpox, and has implemented contact tracing.
