- 2024/07 - Recommendation (Pdf, 514 Kb) on who to screen for latent tuberculosis infection
- 2023/06 - Recommendation (Pdf, 1013 Kb) on the management of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). June 2023 update
- 2017/01 - National strategy (Pdf, 595 Kb) on the therapeutic approach to adopt if latent tuberculosis (LTB) is suspected in migrants in Luxembourg
Luxembourg has to deal with a large number of migrants, many of whom are international protection applicants (IPAs) who stay in Luxembourg for several months or, as is most often the case, several years. When they arrive in Luxembourg, these persons must undergo a medical examination, which includes screening for tuberculosis. Since these persons may be coming from countries where tuberculosis is highly endemic, and have spent time in extremely poor sanitary conditions while in transit, or during stays in refugee camps, they are considered to be at risk for tuberculosis. As such, the working group has proposed a national strategy on the therapeutic approach to adopt in cases where active tuberculosis has been excluded, but where, further to screening, contact with the tuberculosis bacillus is suspected. - 2011/06 - Recommendation (Pdf, 200 Kb) on diagnosing latent tuberculosis infection using interferon-γ release assays (IGRAs)
The Superior Council of Infectious Diseases (Conseil supérieur des maladies infectieuses - CSMI) – formerly the Conseil supérieur d’hygiène – is issuing a reminder that IGRAs are used to detect latent tuberculosis infections, so that they can be treated before developing into contagious active tuberculosis. The Council also draws attention to the recommendations on Cellestis's QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube (QFT-GIT) test, on which most of the studies have been conducted. - 1996/01 - Recommendations (Pdf, 302 Kb) on testing for tuberculosis
For the purpose of standardisation, and to avoid confusion, the Superior Council of Infectious Diseases recommends using the standard tuberculin PPD-RT 23, produced by Statens Seruminstitut in Copenhagen, in doses of two units. For occasional users, tuberculin Berna 3 U.I. is recommended, but only 0.07 ml should be injected in order to administer the equivalent of 2 units of PPD-RT 23 Copenhagen. In addition to these recommendations, this circular contains information on choosing the test and equipment, carrying out the test, and reading and interpreting the results. - 2002/01 - Recommendations (Pdf, 73 Kb) on treating latent tuberculosis infection
As part of the drive to eliminate tuberculosis, the Superior Council of Infectious Diseases has issued recommendations on who should be tested, who should be treated, and how cases of tuberculosis should be treated. In addition to these recommendations, this circular contains information on the terminology used, diagnosing latent tuberculosis infection, targeted screening, treating latent tuberculosis infection, and specific considerations.
