Sexual and emotional health

'Let’s Talk about Sex!' project

'Let’s Talk about Sex!' (LTAS) is a project developed by experts in emotional and sexual health, aimed at professionals working with young people.

It comprises:

  • a theoretical guide
  • a toolkit of practical activities
  • a series of training sessions, and
  • the option of earning a certificate in emotional and sexual health (from 2024 onwards).

The guide

The guide (binder) is a new version of a brochure originally produced in 2005, the aim of which was to encourage young people to have fulfilling and respectful sexual relationships, and to adopt healthy and consensual sexual behaviour, without risk, in order to avoid unwanted pregnancies or sexually transmitted infections.

Thus, the idea behind this guide, aimed at professionals, was to build a collection of information sheets that tackle many of the issues around emotional and sexual wellbeing. Each sheet in the folder can be used as a standalone resource. The sheets can also be grouped together in chapters. For example, there is a chapter on contraception, with each of the various sheets covering a different method of contraception. (published late 2020)

The toolkit

The toolkit is available in French (2022) and German (2023/2024) and builds on the LTAS binder from a practical perspective.

Created in response to demand on the ground, it was drawn up by a working group of key players in this field.

The toolkit is aimed at all adults with responsibility for young people, and contains:

  • 30 fun activities based on educational worksheets: These are grouped by topic and organised in colour-coded folders to match the colours used in the relevant chapters in the LTAS binder
  • An A4 introductory booklet (posture, instructions, general information on emotional and sexual health, etc.)
  • A2 posters, folded, with a QR code on the fold and links to relevant intranet sites
  • Materials for printing and/or cutting out
  • A (bilingual) comic strip written by ECPAT on grooming and sexting

The aim of the educational toolkit is to provide substantial support for preparing sessions on sexual and emotional health and to make it easier to approach subjects which are more sensitive, or even taboo, in a relaxed way.

The toolkit is designed to provide high-quality educational materials with reliable information and practical tips used in practice by highly experienced trainers.
