National Cardio-Neuro-Vascular Plan (2023-2027)

For several decades, non-communicable diseases (NCDs for short), and more specifically cardio-neuro-vascular diseases (CNVDs), have been a global public health challenge.

The WHO also reports that cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of disabilities and premature death in the European region, accounting for over 42.5 % of deaths every year. This represents 10,000 deaths a day. In Luxembourg, cardio-neuro-vascular diseases were the second leading cause of death in 2023.

Recent data (2023) shows that almost 1,100 people die of them every year in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Given this situation, the Health Directorate has produced an extensive national plan for cardio-neuro-vascular diseases (PNMCNV) for 2023-2027 in order to effectively combat these diseases.
