eSanté-EFES Project

The eSanté-EFES programme is not simply about coordinating the various projects to benefit from their synergy. It has also put particular emphasis on the different implementation tasks to be developed in future years.

To achieve this objective, an extensive background study was launched at the end of 2008. The first phase of this study seeks to analyse existing information on the use of information systems in the healthcare sector, the needs of people in the field, the current circulation of information between our health professionals, standards relating to healthcare information systems and best practices adopted abroad.

In its second phase, the study is expected to draw up the following proposals:

  • the basic architecture and the standards required to construct an eSanté platform,
  • suggestions for guaranteeing personal data protection,
  • the basic concept of the applications to support the sharing and exchange of data,
  • the patient's place in the eSanté system,
  • the organisational model to be implemented,
  • and an overall financial estimate.

The project is an essential step in framing and guiding discussions on the applications of the future eHealth platform, as well as in establishing its organisational framework.
