Profession statistics

Profession statistics are published each year by the Ministry of Health and Social Security. They relate to the ‘healthcare professions’ set out in the Law of 26 March 1992 on the exercise and valuation of certain healthcare professions.

For each profession, these statistics consist of a set of tables indicating:

• overall workforce and its distribution by year,
• professional situation,
• commune,
• canton,
• gender,
• age range, and
• area of activity.

The medical statistics from the general report of the Inspectorate General of Social Security (Inspection générale de la sécurité sociale - IGSS) are also available, as are the brochures on medical demographics published by the Luxembourg Association of Medical Students (Association luxembourgeoise des étudiants en médecine - ALEM).
