Presentation and methodology

In 2013, this monitoring system gathered the data concerning all accidents and injuries from 9 hospital emergency departments, from the following hospitals:

  • Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg,
  • Robert Schuman Hospital (formed in 2016 by the merging of Kirchberg Hospital with the ZithaKlinik),
  • Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch,
  • Centre Hospitalier du Nord.

The data is collected from the emergency departments, and processed, in accordance with the methodological principles defined by the European Injury Database (IDB) programme. That data collection is the result of close collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Social Security, partner hospitals and the Luxembourg Institute of Health.

Since 2013, yearly data concerning accidents in Luxembourg has been sent to the European Union, making Luxembourg an active player in the European IDB-Network, and enabling the results to be compared across all EU Member States.
