Aid and care providers

Long-term care costs may, under certain conditions, be covered by long-term care insurance. Subscribers to health insurance may benefit from long-term care insurance, or ‘dependency’ insurance, provided they have been recognised as dependent following an assessment by the Assessment and Guidance Unit (Cellule d’évaluation et d’orientation - CEO).

Aid and care networks

Aid and care networks provide support to dependent people at home, offering all the assistance and care they need for the essentials of day-to-day living, such as:

  • personal hygiene
  • help with dressing
  • help with eating and drinking
  • help with getting around

There are a number of large-scale networks, but also various smaller aid and care networks providing home care, and independent healthcare professionals offering care to dependent people.

For group-based support activities, dependent people can receive support from a day or night care centre, which welcomes dependent people during the day and/or night and provides them with the care and support they need.

Aid and care establishments

Aid and care establishments (in-patient care providers) are institutions which accommodate dependent people both day and night and provide them with the care and support they need. We distinguish between establishments offering intermittent support and those offering permanent accommodation.

Specialised day centres

In addition, Luxembourg has specialised day centres which take care of dependent people during the day.
