Routine medical examinations

Pupils have a routine medical examination:

  • in the third year of primary school;
  • in the fifth year of primary school;
  • in the fourth year of secondary school;
  • in the 9th year of technical secondary school.

These exams include clinical components, as well as personalised advice in the field of health education.

Clinical components

The clinical components include:

  • routine screening, assessments, check-ups and measurements: height, weight, vision, hearing, verbal expression, vaccinations, urine glucose, albumin and blood tests;
  • case history and lifestyle of the child or adolescent: a confidential questionnaire sent to the child's parents (or the person responsible for the child) is used to gather relevant data on primary school children;
  • the clinical examination encompasses the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urogenital and locomotive systems, the nervous system, the skin and its appendages, the eyes, ears, nose, throat, and neck, hernial zones, and the lymphatic system.

Personalised advice

Personalised advice in the field of health education takes into account the pupil's specific situation and problems.
