What if, this summer, we could enjoy socialising without alcohol?

With changing drinking habits and a growing awareness of the effects of alcohol on health, more and more people are now keen to explore tasty, sociable alternatives that are accessible to everyone.

As part of its new prevention campaign, the Ministry of Health and Social Security aims to promote sobriety as a positive, conscious and desirable choice. Whilst alcohol remains strongly associated with festive occasions, the desire to explore alcohol-free alternatives is growing, and more people are now seeking options that combine enjoyment, wellbeing and health.

At the heart of this campaign, a booklet of mocktail recipes and tutorial videos invite people to discover creative, tasty and low-sugar drinks, these have been developed in collaboration with the Luxembourgish mixologist Raphael Betti, founder of the BAC cocktail bar in Luxembourg City.

The digital campaign also highlights four key summer occasions – festivals, barbecues, funfairs and bars/nightclubs – to promote alcohol-free moments featuring alternative drinks.

This initiative also serves as a reminder that there is no such thing as risk-free alcohol consumption and that reducing alcohol intake can have beneficial effects on health, sleep, energy levels and everyday wellbeing.
