Having fun without a condom is AIDS-dangerous!

The Ministry of Health has developed a new information and awareness campaign on the fight against AIDS.

In Luxembourg, more than 61 new infections have been recorded this year, representing 10% more than in 2006 and 30% more than in 2007!
32 people were infected through unprotected heterosexual intercourse, and 22 people through unprotected homosexual intercourse.

Key Messages

This observation shows the need to remind people of the importance of protecting themselves and others.

“Having fun without a condom is AIDS-dangerous. Protect yourself!”

Information Tools

The campaign, launched in mid-December 2008, included:

• Posters at bus shelters

• Posters on the backs of buses

• An interactive banner on dating websites

• Broadcasts of radio, TV, and cinema spots

In parallel, A2-sized posters were distributed to:

• General practitioners

• Gynecologists

• Pharmacies

• Municipalities

• High schools

During the year-end festivities, condom packets and postcards were made available in popular locations.
